The Last Day of the Worst Year

Yep, 2009 has without qualification been the worst year of my life - at least that I can remember. Call it a blessing or a curse, but I tend to forget really bad or upsetting things.

I think I may have mentioned that I'd had high hopes for Christmas 2009. Not sure why since the year was so awful, but I did. I have to say, however, that there were a few good moments. My favorite was probably our outing to the movies.

Now some might think it odd that one of our party was wearing his pajama bottoms with a dress shirt, tie, and robe, but I thought it Godfather chic. I especially liked it when T, dressed as the don, and HMS, dressed as Rainbow Brite's gay husband, entered the burned out hippie biker bar. The looks on the faces of those in attendance were to be remembered. It was pretty terrific.

Here's hoping that 2010 will be better. For the past few days, I have been in a real funk. I did some reading this morning, and actually read this meditation for December 29 (rather than the one for December 31). It was based on something Henry David Thoreau said: "However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not bad... it looks poorest when you are richest. The fault-finder will find faults, even in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is." All in all, that's good advice.

Then I got to work and Girlfriend made me laugh - lots. I guess it's not all bad, but I sure do hope the curse of 2009 is done.

Goodbye and Good Riddance

It's the next to last day of the worst year of my life - at least in recent memory. I say good riddance. Here's hoping 2010 will be better!

I had high hopes for Christmas, but it was not the best ever. There were a few high points, but for the most part, it was a let down. Just to give you a small taste of how bad it was, I was terrorized by a drunk British lesbian who did not know how to take NO for an answer. It was the perfect end to a perfectly terrible year.
